We have a unique situation in that our Family Day Care is run out of St Bernadette’s, Ivanhoe rather than a private residence. It is a beautiful space that has a main playroom, a sleeping room for younger children, a large private, recently renovated outside play area and another ‘quiet’ room. Children may also have access to St Bernadette’s Primary playground and library as well as attend trips to nearby parks and local facilities.
Our play-based program is very child-led, in that we look at each child’s interests, abilities and strengths and work to provide them with the support and resources they need to develop these further. The small mixed-age group helps in this situation as we encourage the children to bond with each other and to learn from each other. Communication with families is a high priority as we take into consideration each child’s social, emotional, mental and physical health.
With 7 years experience in the industry, I have a strong passion and philosophy behind care. I believe it is crucial to have a close relationship and bond with each child and their family as to provide a loving, safe, nurturing, stimulating and fun space for children to flourish and grow. I try to encourage moments of stillness, mindfulness and gratitude every day with the children. I feel this encourages them to be aware of their own feelings, compassionate towards others, and to be present and immersed in their learning and experiences.
We offer childrens Yoga, dance, art classes and an array of other creative activities in which the children can explore and express themselves through.
I aim for each child to feel excited to come in to care, to feel valued, loved and happy within their close friendships that Daycare provides.
