Hello,

My name is Yasantha Nileththi. I was born and raised in Sri Lanka. After graduating from university of Peradeniya I started my teaching career in one of the leading schools in Sri Lanka, teaChing social sciences and Geography from year 6-11 students. I grew to love watching the different behaviours of children and I loved using different teaching strategies to improve their development. We moved to Australia ( to Perth) in 2012. In Perth I worked as an Educator in Great Beginnings ( G8 GROUP COMPANY) for almost three years and I absolutely loved working with my babies in the baby room. It was like a second home to me. We had to move to Melbourne in 2016 as my husband was offered a job in his field. I resigned from my job and moved to Melbourne with my husband and two boys. I was pretty lucky to contact Rebecca the CEO of the Happy campers just to check for a place in Happy campers for my little one. I told her that I would love to start a family day care. Starting a family day care was one of my dream. So Rebecca guided me to fulfill all the criterias needed and we were able to start my dream family day care in June. I am very happy as I am able to work with kids again. I strongly believe that some of the most important skills to have when working with children is patience, flexibility and love.I feel that they allow you to be yourself and to get in touch with your inner child. That is what I feel everyday when I work with kids. I do love watching them grow through their own experiences and planned activities. In my day care I do plan a special activities daily which address and improve the gross and fine motor, cognitive and their sensory development as well. It might be a cooking experience, art and craft, imaginative play, reading experiene and etc. And I do strongly believe that the parents should be aware of the learning happen in the care setting. I maintain daily learning journey and every parent will receive it through their my notebook app, at the end of the day. And  I maintain a folder for every child where their art and craft goes and their learning chronicles as well. I have a very good understanding of Early years learning framework and national quality standards. Our educational Leader JO always guides us to explore new play ideas which I find very supportive. Children are always supported and they have numerous ways to learn through their play experiences. I think I am lucky to be a Educator in Happy campers and  parents of my day care belive so, too. SO you all are welcome to visit and join our family..BE A HAPPY CAMPER…. THEN YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A HAPPY PERSON TOO…

Yasantha is  the most amazing educator on the world. I wanted my son to go to a family home filled with love. I wanted him to be cared for like I would care for him. She is kind, fun and so loving towards the children. She is an amazing cook and my son loved her pumpkin soup and butter chicken. Her back yard she fabulous for lots of outdoor play including a contraction area, water play and sand play. she goes above and beyond and I see and feel she loves every child that comes through her doors. I felt safe leaving my son there while I worked. I know his day was filled with love, fun, activities and laughter. I HIGHLY recommend Yasantha. my son and I will miss her dearly 🙂

Yasantha is a wonderful educator

We are delighted to have found Yasantha and Happy Campers Family Day Care. Prior to enrolling our daughter with Happy Campers Family Day Care we had been sending our daughter to a child care centre for one day a week. Although it was a lovely centre with dedicated staff, our daughter had struggled to establish a secure attachment and was not settled, happy or comfortable within the setting. Determined to find something better suited to our daughter we asked around among friends and family and were given many positive recommendations for Happy Campers. We spoke with Rebecca and met with Yasantha and right from that first meeting we felt confident that this would be the right fit for our daughter.

Yasantha is an incredibly warm and skilled educator who demonstrates the utmost respect, consideration and care for the children she looks after. She is gentle and thoughtful with the children and very quickly established a strong and secure attachment with our daughter. She took the time to find out lots about our daughter before she started in her care and made herself available to support a gradual transition. She spoke with us and together worked out a transition plan to minimise stress for our daughter and for us as her parents. Very quickly our daughter developed a strong affection for Yasantha and within just a few weeks was settled and happy to be going to day care. Rather than the tears we were used to, she would be instantly off and happily absorbed in play and we could leave knowing that our daughter was safe and secure and well cared for.

Yasantha is also a very creative and organised educator and every day she has interesting activities planned for the kids. Our daughter is learning so many new things and is being exposed to great learning opportunities and activities. Yasantha creates a great routine and structure for the kids which our daughter really enjoys and she often comes home proudly showing off the artworks she has created!

We are so delighted to have found Happy Campers Family Day Care and Yasantha. Yasantha and the children in care with our daughter feel like an extension of our family and we are so pleased that our daughter has this experience twice a week. There is nothing more reassuring than knowing your child is so well cared for by such a competent and caring educator.

An amazing start!
4.5

As a first time Mum, heading back to work can be a real challenge. Managing work and life, coupled with the dreaded thought of “leaving your baby” behind was overwhelming. That was until I found Yas! My little boy, affectionately nick named Benji by his friends at Yas’, was a Covid baby and so his exposure to strangers was minimal. From the very first day we met Yas, we fell in love with her. Her warm, caring and patient nature made the transition to her family day care a breeze. She allowed us to take our time during those first initial weeks until Benjamin, well really me 🙂 were comfortable with the notion of leaving him behind! From that day we have not looked back! He adores her and the children she currently cares for have swiftly adopted him into their family. I cannot express how grateful we are to have found Yas and you know that he is so well cared for when you pick him up and he cries to go back to her for one last cuddle! I have been able to return to the workforce knowing that my precious little boy is made to feel safe and secure in her home and I will be forever grateful to find such a gem so close to home! Benjamin and I adore her and she adores him, and that’s all a new Mum could ask for!

Our daughter is very happy!
5.0

I feel the biggest testament for how well someone looks after your child is not what they necessarily say or do, but how your child reacts to them.  In our case, our daughter is usually very shy and slow to warm to people she doesn’t know, some particularly much longer than others!   However in Yasantha’s case,  she warmed very quickly and they now formed a strong bond.

Our daughter had not been left with others very often before starting family daycare and she would cry when out of my sight.  However this changed much quicker than I expected with Yasantha.  When we drop our daughter off now, she smilies and often does not want to come home at pick up time!   She also knows all the other children’s names, including Yasantha’s own children who she loves playing with.

Yasantha is a warm, caring person and she has a gentle approach that I really think has made a huge difference to my daughter’s happiness.   Yasantha also has a genuine interest and enthusiasm for learning, and I notice my daughter is leaning many different things than what we teach or show her at home.  She’s getting a well rounded education from being at family daycare and I especially love that Yasantha does a lot of arts and crafts with the children.

We are very pleased that we have found someone who cares so well for our daughter and who has made her transition from being fulltime at home to 3 days at daycare such a positive and happy experience.

Thank you Yasantha.
